8 Female Entrepreneurs Changing the World Through Education
We celebrate strong women all year long, but for Women’s History Month, we’re excited to introduce you to a few of our Partners making world change through simply showing up for their businesses. Are you curious about joining them as changemakers? Keep reading!
Since Kurandza’s beginning, we’ve partnered with women entrepreneurs who are as passionate about education as we are. These partners keep our programs running, our students involved in extracurricular activities and supplied with what they need to thrive, and help us pay our staff a living wage. Today, we’re excited to highlight their businesses and their work to show you just how inspiring our team of partners are.
1. Meet Amy
Amy Everhart is a women’s leadership coach. She specializes in helping women create businesses, empowering them to face the challenges of business ownership in this society. Her coaching focuses on giving women the courage to unlock their “wildest ideas” that they’ve been hiding or taming for too long. Amy began her journey helping women as a teacher, but quickly realized she loved helping people start their dream businesses - she
describes her work as being a “business midwife” to entrepreneurs giving birth to a new idea. She has been a Kurandza Giveback Partner since 2018 (read her feature on our blog here) and invests a portion of her earnings to support our work in girl’s education.
2. Meet Alyssa
Alyssa Coleman is a longtime Kurandza partner and a productivity coach, helping business owners be their best, most productive selves. She’s helped hundreds of female business owners scale up their freedom-based companies to find their most profitable quarters yet, create strategies that work, and avoid burnout.
She specializes in productivity strategy and narrowing in her client’s business
habits to help them achieve their goals. Believe it or not, Alyssa was our very first Giveback Partner and we’ve been so inspired by her over the years!
3. Meet Welly
After an impressive career as a professional dancer performing on the biggest stages in the world, Welly encountered health issues that forced her to take a deeper look at her fast paced life, eventually turning to nutrition as an outlet after learning the dangers of pushing her own body too far. She takes everything she’s learned on her quest for a healthier lifestyle and uses it to help other women transform their own lives,
from the inside out. She’s a London-based nutritionist, pilates instructor, and wellness coach who has helped countless women live their best lives. We are endlessly encouraged by her warmth and passion for her clients and the simple ways she helps transform their lives.
4. Meet Jess
Jess Poon is the founder of Grace & Oak Studios, a creative branding studio empowering entrepreneurs to turn their stories into meaningful and impactful brands. She partners with coaches, nutritionists, content creators, designers, event planners and more to guide them in creating their dream business. Jess believes that first impressions matter, especially when it comes to your business, and she’s an expert at making
sure businesses step forward as beautifully prepared as possible. In addition to her work with business owners, she’s been featured in Herpreneur Hundred and Bucketlist Bombshells.
5. Meet Heather
For more than 15 years, Heather has worked to design people’s dream homes. Her journey began when she discovered her knack for design and created spaces for her family and friends. Her talent was quickly noticed by a producer on HGTV and her laundry list of clients has grown ever since. She is the founder and head designer of Trilling Landscape - a design firm that has been featured on HGTV, A&E, The New York Times, and more.
She leads a team of designers who offer a full spectrum of design services.
6. Meet Nisha
Nisha is the founder of Global Sisterhood Day, and an integrative leadership coach helping women connect to their deepest goals through retreats, wellness coaching, and online coaching. She has a background in health & executive coaching, intergenerational & energy healing, and community building and she draws on this skillset to help catalyze deep growth in her clients. A mother herself with a long list of educational credentials to her name, Nisha is incredibly passionate about creating change for the next generation through
intergenerational healing, community building, and building strong women leaders. We love her drive and passion for women - she knows that access to education is the foundation of a safer future for all and her work with Kurandza is just one of the ways she empowers women and girls around the world.
7. Meet Xiaoqi
Xiaoqi is a Charlottesville-based wedding photographer with a passion for storytelling and she fell in love with photography as a way to stay connected to her family. She captures one of life’s biggest moments for couples around the world and celebrates their love through her art. Xiaoqi knows her clients want more than a wedding photographer - she’s a storyteller who expertly captures
moments, cultural traditions, family stories and more that couples can cherish forever. She leads a small team of photographers and creatives and her images invoke emotion, even for strangers. We’re so grateful to have her in the Giveback Collective.
8. Meet Renée
In a word, Renée helps business owners avoid burnout. She takes the pressure off CEO’s, leaders, and business owners, enabling them to do what they do best: lead, dream, and build. Through practical strategies, visual integration, team management, and handling the host of practical aspects of business running, Renee empowers her clients to grow their businesses authentically, without compromising their own mental health.
She’s a business growth and strategizing wizard with years of experience in her field and has helped countless business owners recover from burnout and prioritize their goals to create a thriving business.
