2021 #IStandForGirls Campaign Recap
We did it, Kurandza family. Because of YOU, we secured scholarships for 250 girls in Mozambique to go back to school!
You helped cover the costs of school fees, books, uniforms, backpacks, supplies, and transportation to the now 250 girls in our education program so that they can continue their education for another year.
We reached our goal because of this amazing community of supporters JUST like you. In this blog post, we’ll give a recap of what you helped us achieve as well as a huge THANK you to each and every person involved!
But first, a little bit of background about the #IStandForGirls campaign...
The history of #IStandForGirls
2017:
We launched our first annual #IStandForGirls Campaign with the goal of providing scholarships to 100 under-resourced girls in rural Mozambique. With your support, we reached our goal!
2018:
Our goal doubled from 100 scholarships to 200 for girls ranging from kindergarten all the way up through high school. All of them had access to one more year of education because of you.
2019:
Instead of increasing the number of scholarships, we focused on providing the existing girls in our program with the most holistic education possible. We discovered that most girls need more support beyond what they get in the classroom. That year, on top of the basic costs of education, we were able to add important activities and enrichment including field trips, extra-curricular activities, more parent-teacher communication and family support.
2020:
Our cost of operations rose significantly due to the Covid-19 virus. Additionally, we had an option for supporters to upgrade their sponsorship and pay for after-school tutoring, extracurricular activities, health education, field trips, and home visits. Through the campaign, over half the girls were fully funded to take part in these activities so that they not only get to school, but stay in school!
2021:
This year, our goal was to expand our impact even further by offering 50 MORE girls an education for a total of 250 students. This incredible, inspiring community rallied together to fund school sponsorships for all of them! We’re amazed by your support!
These girls have increased their confidence and self-esteem, are able to get a life-changing education, and they are dreaming for the future because of YOU!
