How You Can Support Kurandza This Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement that encourages people around the world to do good by donating their time, money, or voice to causes that are important to them.
This year, the celebration will happen on Tuesday, November 30th and we’ve got BIG plans for this special day! Our 2021 Giving Tuesday goal is to raise $10,000 to build a new learning center for our students and staff members in Chivonguene, Mozambique.
The current workspace is made by hand of mud and lacks durability. It doesn’t provide adequate space for socially distanced learning sessions, either. A new space will provide solutions to all of these problems, while giving the girls and staff members a positive learning environment where they can work together, thrive, and grow for many years to come.
One of the rooms we’re most excited about is the classroom where Mónica will lead literacy sessions and exam preparation! This will provide the girls with a designated space for attending these important lessons while being safely placed six feet apart.
A childcare room is in the works, too, which will allow those students who are young mothers to leave their babies under safe supervision while in class.
We’ll also build a staff room, kitchen to prepare the girls’ daily meals, stock room for safely storing supplies, and bathroom which is a big upgrade from the current outdoor latrine!
$10,000 will fund the first phase, covering the costs of floor plans and construction.
