We’re looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Virtual Assistant who will provide administrative and logistical support to Kurandza’s Founder, Elisabetta. This person will be able to successfully work alongside Elisabetta and her team in Mozambique, as well as be strongly self-motivated and able to get work done without close supervision.

Plastic Free July is winding its way down, but if you’ve been on social media at all this month, you’ve probably heard buzz around the topic of reducing consumption, minimizing plastic waste, and being a conscious consumer during July and beyond.

The goal of this program is to set both mentors and mentees for long-term success, thereby creating a ripple effect for years to come. The younger girls will feel more supported, confident, and empowered in their studies while the high schoolers have the opportunity to hone their leadership skills and share their knowledge.

Across Mozambique, especially in rural areas like the ones we serve, many people lack a birth certificate or legal form of identification. Oftentimes, children don’t know their exact birthdays or legal names which can present a lot of problems down the road.

Being out of the classroom for most of 2020 and even some of 2021 took a toll on their progress. They lost several months of learning time but despite being unable to attend school in-person, we made the best out of the situation and remain hopeful as we move forward.

The first day of school is always an exciting time, but this year, even more so than usual! After lockdowns, school closures, and uncertainty due to Covid-19, the girls in our program have safely returned to the classroom at last. We are thrilled to welcome them back!

March is officially known as Women’s History Month and we’ve loved seeing women honored, important stories told, and call-outs happening all month long. At Kurandza, we believe that women should be celebrated, lifted up, and given equal opportunities all year long.

Together with your support, we positively impacted 290 lives directly in Mozambique last year. 2020 was a period of growth and change for Kurandza. Our team took the years’ unique set of challenges in stride and our passion shined as we continued to seek ways to maximize our impact.

We did it and we are blown away from ALL your love and support! Because of YOU, we succeeded in securing scholarships for all 200 girls in Mozambique to go back to school! This means that we will be able to provide school fees, books, uniforms, backpacks, school supplies, and transportation to the 200 girls in our education program so that they will be able to continue getting an education in Mozambique!

In the past four Septembers (can you believe it’s already been four?!), the #IStandForGirls campaign has gained more momentum than we dreamt possible. We’ve connected with donors and sponsors from all over the world, enabled hundreds of children to have access to education, and started enrichment programs in rural Mozambique that we expected to be years off when we first began.

Last month (February), the girls at our partner schools in Mozambique had their first day of school. The first day of school for the girls in our program is always a fun day! They get so excited for school now that they are equipped with uniforms, backpacks, and all the school supplies they need! We want to share a quick recap of their first week of school so you can join in with the excitement and get to know the girls a little bit better!

In a short time, Kurandza has come a long way. If you follow us on Instagram, you have heard a bit about our founder, Elisabetta, and our Country Director, Percina's stories. Just in case you missed it, we will sum it all up by saying that Kurandza hasn't come to fruition overnight. Years of hard work, dreaming, and collaboration has led us to where we are today.

Before we give you an update on our how our girls are doing in school, we first want to remind you why Kurandza’s main focus is on girls education.
